“When I was a child, all problems had ended with a single word from my father. A smile from him was sunshine, his scowl a bolt of thunder. He was smart, and generous, and honorable without fail. He could exile a trespasser, check my math homework, and fix the leaky bathroom sink, all before dinner. For the longest time, I thought he was invincible. Above the petty problems that plagued normal people. And now he was gone.” by Rachel Vincent
Yes, when we were young, we thought that fathers were invincible. They were the source of our strength, the wise and almighty smith who helped shape our character. They were our defenders from all kinds of enemies, including those shadows who haunted our dreams.
That is why it often comes as a painful surprise that time can take our fathers away from us.
Losing her own dad, a young woman named Jada feels lost and empty. With a broken heart, she visited her father’s grave, unable to believe that he was really gone from her life.
It was hard to believe that time could be really short. And that the day would come when she could no longer hear his voice, his laugh, his loving words.
She was in the midst of her grief when suddenly a stray cat came close to her and lay on her lap. It inexplicably brought warmth to her heart and comfort to her soul.
The cat did not leave her all the while she sat by her father’s grave, and when she was about to go home it refused to leave. And so, Jada took it with her.
Jada sought the help of a veterinarian to find out the cat’s health condition, and the male cat proved to be just fine. They also tried to search for a microchip so Jada could return the cat to his owner, but there was none. The vet told her that cat was most probably abandoned because there were no reports that he was missing.
When no one came forward to claim the cat back, Jada decided to keep him and named him Yoshi.
Joyfully, Jada posted Yoshi’s story on Tiktok where she wrote in the caption: “The first day I visited my dads grave, this stray cat came out of nowhere and jumped in my lap. He wouldn’t leave my side and sat with me until I left.”
She also added over a clip, “Welcome to the family, Yoshi”.
A lot of Tiktok users who have watched the video felt very happy for her and Yoshi, whom they think is a gift from her dad.
“I believe spiritually when you have a hard time accepting someone’s death, they’ll send you a pet. My grandma sent me my galileo 💛,” one commenter wrote.
“My cat Simon came to me as a stray just days after my mum died and he’s the nicest cat I ever had. 10 years and he’s still my little man ❤️,” another person said.
“Maybe a little bit of your Dad staying near you. 💜,” a Tiktok user expressed to comfort Jada.
“They have such an amazing ability to find a soul that needs them,” said another commenter with compassion.
