Dogs love unconditionally and only ask the same in return. However, many are abandoned or mistreated by the humans that they love.
A woman that appeared to love and care for her dog callously tossed the little pup into the trash, and as if that wasn’t horrible enough, she made it appear on Facebook that the dog died from cancer.
Carolyn Zanghi, 61, of Myrtle Beach, was arrested and charged by Horry County Police Department after receiving a tip from a community member about the case.
The police investigation found, “On June 9, 2022, at the Horry County Solid Waste Authority recycling center on Jones Road, Zanghi intentionally and neglectfully abandoned the dog in a trash compactor.”
She performed the despicable act roughly a week after posting on Facebook that the Yorkshire Terrier named “Daisy Mae” had cancer and was “on her call up to puppy heaven”.
Thankfully, the dog was found unharmed and brought to the Horry County Animal Care Center. She is currently not available for adoption. Those interested in adopting are encouraged to check out the other adoptable animals.
Zanghi faces a fine and/or jail time but people are calling for all her animals to be taken away and for her to do some serious time.
“If you go to her Facebook page, less than a day ago, she was writing about how much she missed this dog and ‘Daisy May your brother and your sister miss you a lot. I know you’re in heaven looking down and giving them lots of love and miss you a lot. Hugs and kisses.’ And yet, SHE was the one who did this to her dog? Despicable,” commented one person.
Another wrote, “Glad this sweet dog is safe and away from this Old hag, hope you stay in jail. Hope you will not be allowed to ever own another animal.”
