A wealthy family in Double Bay, New South Wales, Australia, is advertising for a full-time cat nanny to join their mansion in suburban Sydney. As much as we’d like to admit it, we are not making this up. The news is even more incredible when you consider many Australians are struggling right now to keep a roof over their heads due to the ongoing rental crisis there.
This isn’t meant as judgmental, but full-time employment to cat sit for people that are not out of town?
The job posting, which appears on Seek, noted that they are searching for a “pet Nanny for an amazing cat.” The ad went on to say “Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to look after one pet full time and only focus on the care and love of one cat.”
For the most part, felines are pretty low maintenance as compared to canines, and can even be left home alone for a few days with proper preparedness. You can’t say the same for dogs. The advert continued with:
“This is a private role based within the Eastern Suburbs area working for a busy family as a Pet Nanny/Carer. This position will require someone who is available to live in full-time and stay home to look after the most beloved, gorgeous cat in Australia.
“You will be provided your own room and all facilities within a wonderful and beautiful house. This position would suit a single person only that does not have their own pet, given it is a live-in position.”
Right or wrong, we’re envisioning personal cat strollers, cushy divans, and an awful lot of pampering going on. The ad went on to ask that “only serious candidates apply.” They also point out that applicants “MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH CATS,” otherwise “we will not consider your application.” The duties/responsibilities and requirements are outlined below.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Requirements:
“If you meet the requirements and are interested in applying for this position, please forward your Resume and a Cover Letter which sets out your experience with cats.
“NOTE: You MUST have prior experience with animals. Only apply if you have experience caring for pets.”
You can say this about them: They’re definitely serious about the health and happiness of their cat, no doubt about it.
