When Heidi started to care for the local cats in Brooklyn, New York, she knew she would need to learn everything about cat health and make connections in the community.
Fortunately, she has done just that, and now she shares that knowledge and care with followers all across the country on social media!
Many of her followers first saw Heidi in one of her bath time videos on TikTok or Instagram (@heidiwranglescats), where she uses diluted dish soap to clean up foster kittens and rid them of fleas.
Recently, Heidi took the leap to make cat fostering and rescue her full time job, relying on the generosity of donors online.
“I very well might be crazy, but this is my passion, and I’m determined to make it work,” she wrote on Facebook. Any rescuer in NYC you follow on Instagram has a day job, and we all loose our minds a little bit burning the candles at both ends trying to make it all work.”

Catching, cleaning, fostering, and caring for these cats as they wait for their forever homes and recover from disease takes a huge amount of energy and care. But it’s all worth it to see them clean and healthy!
Heidi also works to catch these cats, using a drop trap and irresistible treats. Then, she works with other fosters and groups in the area to make sure they’re cared for in the long term.
When no one else can step in, she cares for them at her home until they are ready to be adopted or taken in.
