A sweet video captured the moment a dog got to see the world for the first time following surgery and it’s absolutely precious to watch.

The video was posted on Reddit by u/SnuzieQ and features her 4-year-old Pomeranian and Maltese mix.

The dog can be seen wearing the “cone of shame” with a special screen over the front to protect his eyes. The fur around his eyes is freshly shaved from surgery, allowing the pup to take in the world all the better.

The dog’s owner explained in the comments that the dog had cataracts from the time he was adopted around the age of 1.

They added, “[Cataracts] have progressively gotten worse and have rendered him mostly blind (though he got around quite well and still could see a tiny bit out of the corners of the retina) for at least a year.”

It’s not easy to live with limited vision and it was a beautiful moment getting to witness the pooch seeing the world for the first time after surgery. He slowly took in his surroundings, looking at everything around him carefully.

Understandably, it wasn’t long before the video went viral and hundreds of people commented on the post, commending the owner for being a great dog parent.

Not every pet can get his or her vision back once it is gone, so we can just imagine the joy that both the dog and his owner felt when the surgery was a success!
