A dog was mistakenly sent through an X-ray scanner at an airport in Wisconsin and caught by TSA agents.
TSA tweeted about the incident, showing the dog in a backpack on the security belt along with an X-ray image of the dog at the Madison, Wisconsin airport.
They said:
“A dog was accidentally sent through the X-ray @MSN_Airport this week. When traveling with any animal, notify your airline & know their rules. At the checkpoint, remove your pet from the bag and send all items, including the empty carrier, to be screened in the machine.”

According to USA Today, a TSA spokesperson shared that the small dog, identified as a Dachshund Chihuahua mix, was ok when it came out of the machine.
She explained that the traveler had disclosed to the airline that she was traveling with a dog, but she was unaware of the screening protocol. The TSA officers explained the proper process to her, and she was able to take her dog and leave to her gate.
TSA shared a video of the “proper way to travel with your pet.” You can see it for yourself below:

If you think your pet will attempt an escape, ask to speak with a supervisor before removing the animal. Alternative screening options may be available. (2/2) pic.twitter.com/NL2jNjni2l
