Dogs and cats are notorious enemies but that doesn’t mean there aren’t exceptions. In fact, a lot of dogs and cats that live in the same family are like siblings to each other!
Growing up, my family had a dog that was the gentlest soul. He and our cat got along so well, they’d often be found snuggling together in the sunny spots of the yard and they’re not alone with their relationship. Just ask Vicki Reed!
Back in 2013, she shared a video of her Staffordshire Bull Terrier meeting the family’s new tiny kitten, Bella, for the very first time.
When Bella first walks over the big dog, she seems less interested in meeting him and more interested in playing with his tail. The Staffy simply sits there and takes it while the little kitten paws and batts at his tail.
Staffordshire bull terriers are sometimes stereotyped as being aggressive or violent, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
According to the American Kennel Club, the breed is great with families and young children. The AKC says that while the breed “once ruled England’s fighting pit,” responsible breeding, training, and socilization produces “sweet-natured, family-oriented Staffies with a reputation for being a patient nanny dog for kids.”
It’s generally young children that Staffies are especially fond of and dotting over, but who’s to say they can’t feel the same way about tiny kittens as well?
The sweet dog in this video is one patient pooch, and it looks like he’s going to be the best big brother a kitten could ask for.
