It’s all well and good being called sweet, dazzling, adorable, pure fun, and other compliments that border on platitudes, but they ring hollow when nobody wants to be your best bud or a part of their family. If she could talk, that’s probably what Luna would confide to you, but she can’t, so she won’t, but we will.
Luna is a gorgeous German Shepherd and Pit Bull Terrier mix that has been at the Pima Animal Care Center shelter in Tucson since March 20, 2022, through absolutely no fault of her own. She’s spayed, weighs approximately 62 pounds, and shelter staff believes she’s about 2 years old or so.
Rescue Pets
Luna was housebroken and crate trained in her last home and will benefit from additional training (like any dog). She’s a friendly, bouncy young pup who truly has an infectiously happy personality. Luna has spent quite a bit of time in playgroup with other shelter pups and is social, playful, and easygoing while there.
Luna is no couch potato and keeps her furry friends on their toes! This little whippersnapper is ready to make a great companion for the right person or family. She’d love a yard to zoom around in and maybe a doggy pool to dip her tootsies in, too.
Shelter Staff & Volunteer Comments on Luna
“This little lady has one of the brightest and most vibrant personalities at the shelter! She’s a volunteer favorite who is full of pep and loves to have fun. What’s not so fun, though, is Luna has been in the shelter for far too long. Can you help us change that by offering this perfect pibble a forever home?”
Here’s what some of her other friends have had to say about her:
“I’ve grown really fond of Luna in her time at the shelter. She’s incredibly playful and goofy and will definitely need an active home. She has a happy personality and a constantly wagging tail. A little mischievous, a lot of fun, and all packed into a compact little body. She’s amazing to watch in playgroup — it’s go, go, go with the other pups and has a huge pittie smile on her face the entire time. She’s definitely a power-pack who will benefit from some training in the home, but she really is an amazing girl!”
“Luna is PURE fun! Hard stop on that one. She is very, very, very outgoing. She is full of play and wants to see the world. She comes right back to me for treats when I ask. It is my opinion that she would do great with another dog. I could walk all day with her. Please meet her!”
Animal Adoption
In Kennel D114, her ID# is A748535. She’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure it’s a good fit and will likely do best in a home without young children (12+, please). If you are interested in adopting her or know of someone who might be, please email pacc.adopt@pima.gov with additional questions today. No dog deserves to be homeless month after month, year after year.
