A street cat in Turkey got a moment of love when a street sweeper took time from his day to stop and play.

An anonymous person recorded the moment and shared it with ViralHog. They explained that they were getting coffee in downtown Istanbul at a place that’s right across from Kedili Park, also known as The Park With Cats.

They said, “There’s usually a good amount of aww moments during this activity, but this time it was particularly cute.”

They went on to explain that as they enjoyed their coffee break, they watched a street sweeper stop his busy day to pet a gray cat with his broom. The cat jumped at the broom and played, clearly enjoying the attention.

The person who shared the video said, “It was so heartwarming that I just had to record it.” They added that while the cat appears to leave at the end of the video, once the camera had stopped recording, the cat actually returned to spend more time with the street sweeper.

It seems the cat and sweeper were friends, which is so sweet!

Unlike many street cats, the street cats in Istanbul are notoriously friendly. The Irish Times reported that Istanbul street cats “are wild and yet they do not behave like feral animals. Instead, they coexist peacefully alongside Istanbulites.”

The moment shared between the worker and the stray cat goes to show just how gentle and loving the stray cats of the city are. They’re part of what makes Istanbul the city that it is. They’re a part of the city’s soul and heartbeat.
