image - Stray Kitten With Rare Genetic Mutation Is “All Ears” At Tennessee Shelter

True Rescue in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, recently took in a litter of stray kittens around 8-9 weeks old. Upon closer examination, they noticed that one had four ears.

This rare genetic mutation causes the little feline no harm and just makes him even more adorable. The shelter plans to have their vet examine the 2-pound kitten but based on their research state, “We will have him fully checked by a vet, but from what we know, the inner ear is completely normal and will cause no issues, other than having extra flaps to clean!”

His caretakers have named him Audio because “he has built-in surround-sound speakers”. They are having a blast with cat puns and sharing the sweet feline with their followers.

They wrote, “We’ll videotape him soon and share his cuteness with everyone because this baby is simply ear-resistible (sorry, can’t stop)! Welcome to True Rescue, Audio, where love has no boundaries!”

Check out a recent video of Audio and an up-close look at his ears below.

@truerescuetn EXTREMELY RARE IN THE CAT WORLD! This 8-9 wk. old kitten, who was dumped at a mechanic’s shop duct-taped inside a box with his siblings, gave us quite the surprise today! He has FOUR EARS! You “heard” us right, there are indeed 4 ears. This is a very rare, genetic mutation and is completely harmless to the kitty. We actually find him quite ear-resistible, and we have named him Audio, and we also cant quit making ear puns, apparently! He will be up for adoption soon at True Rescue in Mt. Audio will be available for adoption once he has been neutered and examined by a vet. He is already stealing hearts and is sure to find a loving home soon.

True rescue is currently caring for 439 pets and desperately needs fosters and adopters. They posted on Facebook, “The emergency intakes continue to pile in, and the amount of cats, kittens and dogs (6 dogs, 4 puppies and the rest is cats/kittens) total 439. We are officially intaking more each month than we are adopting out, so we need more adopters stepping forward now more than ever! We continue to be open 7 days a week for adoptions, between the hours of 11-3.” Learn more about how to adopt by clicking here.
