Life on the streets in Bulgaria is tough. There are numerous stray dogs and cats roaming the towns looking for food and shelter. Some are also suffering from health issues, like sweet Boyana.
Local animal shelter, Love for Love Association, works to reduce the number of stray animals through spaying/neutering, changing the locals’ view on stray animals, and finding homes for thousands of the homeless dogs and cats. They also care for injured, sick, or abandoned animals at their shelter. In March, they received a call about a stray dog spotted with a large dark mass on her abdomen.
They rushed to rescue the friendly dog and brought her to an emergency vet for evaluation. The shelter told us, “We took her to Viva Vet Clinic in Dobrich city where it was discovered that she suffers from hernia which was in her case a life-threatening condition due to the fact that a strangled hernia could lead to severe inflammation of intensity and sepsis, also her internal organs could get severely damaged due to the pressure applied.”
The only option was emergency surgery.
Love for Love reached out to Greater Good Charities’ Emergency Animal Medical Care fund for help with the accumulating medical bills. The fund was started to save the lives of shelter pets and with your help we have been able to save countless lives.
Boyana received the necessary surgery and is currently recovering. She is still under observation, but the shelter knows once she fully recovers she will have no trouble finding a loving home. The loving pup gets along with other animals and enjoys attention from humans.
She has her entire life ahead of her. Will you help cover the cost of her surgery and ongoing care?
Help us meet our goal of $1,500. Your support will not only give Boyana a second chance, but your donations will help cover her costly surgery and ongoing treatment.
