When a doggy daycare in Seattle caught fire, a group of strangers ran to assist the dogs and staff to get everyone to safety.

The Dog Resort in the Lake City neighborhood of Seattle sadly caught fire in early February in the middle of a work day.

While many people would mind their business or stand by and call 911, neighbors surrounding the daycare noticed what was happening and sprung into action.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Kenny Robinson said he was working at his office next door to the daycare when the fire broke out.

He explained, “I thought, ‘I can sit here and watch, or I can go over and see if I can be of help. I knew there could be fire on the other side of that wall, next to the dog run.”

According to The Washington Post, the employees at the doggy daycare quickly rushed to get the dogs outside while Robinson and other neighbors helped guide the dogs to a parking lot nearby. The parking lot was fenced and offered a place that the Good Samaritans could corral the dogs to until further help arrived.

Four of the dogs required emergency medical care and were transported to a veterinarian clinic, but the remainder of the dogs were find following the incident.

A news release from the Seattle Fire Department explained that the fire was accidentally started in a dryer. Damages were estimated at around $300,000.

The doggy daycare started a GoFundMe to help with the losses, noting that they are facing “many financial burdens.”

Thankfully, the daycare didn’t suffer any loss of life as all employees and dogs were able to make it out and survived the ordeal.

The daycare is hoping to rebuild and open to full capacity in the future, once funding is settled.
