It is National Feed a Rescue Pet Week!
The Animal Rescue Site along with our partner, Greater Good Charities, dedicates a week to raise as much funds as possible – with your support – to feed hungry dogs and cats in shelters around the country.
Shelters are overcrowded and in desperate need of food donations. Adoptions are down and intakes are up. There are so many mouths to feed.
Help us provide 3 million meals to feed shelter pets around the country, like Lola & Ziggy.
These sweet mama dogs were found emaciated along with newborn puppies.
Midwest City Animal Control (MCAC) responded to a call about severely malnourished dogs and arrived at the residence to find two mama dogs with ribs showing and seven puppies attempting to nurse. They all needed immediate medical attention and were rushed to Safe Haven ABC Clinic.
It was later discovered that the dogs were only being fed oatmeal. They were starving and on the brink of death.
MCAC shared, “When they arrived at the vet clinic, they ate a large bucket of dog food and 3 cans of wet dog food and still acted like they were hungry.”
Lola and Ziggy were severely underweight at 31 pounds and unable to provide all the nutrients their puppies needed. Sadly, one of the puppies passed away.
The remaining puppies and mama dogs were taken in by Diane at Fur Ever Friends Rescue & Doggie Day Care. She said this was one of the worst abuse cases she has seen in all her years as a rescue.
Thanks to your generous donations, Lola and Ziggy and their puppies have regained their strength and health. The mama dogs are thriving, and their personalities are starting to emerge.
Both dogs are affectionate and crave attention from humans. The two-year-olds are ready to find forever homes. The puppies (Hershey, Reese’s, M&M, McFlurry, Oreo, and Godiva) are also looking for loving homes. Learn more here.
Rescue pets like Lola & Ziggy all over the country need your help. July is one of the busiest months of the year for many shelters and rescues, and more animals means more hungry bellies. Food is the largest expense for shelters and one that they struggle to afford on their minimal budgets.
That is where you can help. Together we can help feed and care for these innocent animals until they find forever homes.
Help us reach our goal to deliver 3 million meals to hungry shelter pets. Just $25 ships 500 meals—donate now to help.
