Meet Bert.
The 2-year-old dog overcame malnourishment and is living his best life thanks to your generous donations. He is also one of the spokes-dogs for Greater Good Charities’ 9th annual Shelter Bowl to feed hungry shelter pets.
Bert was found severely underweight wandering the streets of Detroit looking for food and shelter. He arrived at Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit with a body condition score of 3 out of 9.
The shelter was able to provide nutritious food and constant care to help him regain his strength and return to a healthy weight. He is now ready to find his forever home.
Bert’s caretakers shared, “Bert may be a bit shy when you first meet him, but beneath that initial reserve is a heart full of love and affection. Once he warms up, Bert is incredibly friendly and enjoys the company of other dogs. His gentle nature makes him a great companion for those looking to expand their fur family.”

Sadly, there are countless pets like Bert arriving as shelter across the country daily. Animal shelters and rescues need help feeding and caring for the homeless pets, especially as they see adoptions declining.
The Shelter Bowl was created to lend a helping hand to shelters and provide food to shelter pets. We’ll send nutritious meals and NexGard® PLUS (afoxolaner, moxidectin, and pyrantel chewable tablets) to shelter pets in need. Boehringer Ingelheim and Hill’s Pet Nutrition are matching donations, dollar for dollar, up to $60,000. Will you score a touchdown for these pets by giving now?
Just $25 will deliver 1000 belly-filling meals to shelter animals in need who are searching for forever homes. Help us reach our goal of providing 3 million meals to pets in need.
Aside from filling the bellies of shelter pets, the donated food allows shelters to spend money on medical care and adoption events to help them all find loving homes.
No matter which team you are cheering for to win the big game, you can help shelter pets score nutritious food by donating here.
Together, we CAN change the world.
