A 9-month-old American bully with spina bifida is still looking for a forever home after being stood up by a potential adopter.
The adorable pup was rescued by Peaches Bully Rescue, an Ohio-based rescue dedicated to saving bully breeds, and named Jack. After receiving emergency vet care, he was taken in by a loving foster family.
Jack is a typical puppy who loves to play and meet new people, but has limited mobility and needs to wear a diaper.
“He has so much to offer a family and so much love to give but his special needs seem to scare people away,” said the rescue.
Jack has spina bifida and is completely incontinent, but has mastered the diaper system. “His assessment from the vet indicates that this is a permanent condition,” wrote the nonprofit organization.
The rescue was upfront about Jack’s condition and knew it would be a challenge to find a home for the sweet boy, so they were excited when someone inquired about him. His foster family drove forty minutes for a meet and greet, but the potential adopter stood him up.
“Jack was very sad when his meet and greet person was a no show, no call. He had a bath, got his fancy harness on, had a fresh diaper, and a dedicated foster team that drove 40 mins each way just to end in huge disappointment,” posted the rescue.
They went on to say, “Obviously, that wasn’t his family. Morgan, the nice lady from Cabela’s, bought him a new toy to help him forget this experience.”
The post went viral with 600 inquiries and 200 people submitting applications and dozens more donating to the rescue to help care for Jack.
