There are a lot of nicknames for those who are nervous and timid. Challenge yourself to think of as many as possible. Then think of the challenges for those that are not only reserved as a general spirit, but for whom life has reinforced their reasons for being shy, apprehensive, and when unsure, reclusive. Our dear, very sweet Silas started out trying to survive the tough streets by hiding from the many dangers.

When he was finally captured, he was brought to safety, though he wasn’t sure what was happening. All this happened to him as a young kitten at the beginning of the pandemic.

He has always enjoyed playing with others, his siblings especially as they were a comfort and meant safety for him. He appreciates having someone to hide behind. Now for a timid fellow, change is hard. With all that was going on in the world, foster homes had unavoidable changes, too. Silas and his siblings had to move foster homes, and he takes a longer time to adjust to change.

Silas did have a happy holiday in 2020, as he was adopted into a loving family that November, a family that had other cats. He was a part of a trio of cats that enjoyed home life for a couple of years. However, with life changes for humans, come life changes for their pets. The harsh reality is that many rentals that will even allow pets, unfortunately, typically have a limit of two pets per unit. If you caught that Silas was part of a trio, someone couldn’t move with the family, and yes, Silas was the one who would have to lose his family.

Silas came back to The Cat House on the Kings since we have the safety net there for this very reason. He is understandably very confused, sad, and back to what he knows from his beginning, hide to stay safe. He is resilient and he is working on his trust with his new situation. He does enjoy being with other cats in the adoption room.

We are peeping out to reach the heart that will adopt Silas and love him for who he is. His adoption profile is below:

Sweet three year old Silas is a gentle boy who can be a bit shy at first. He enjoys being around people (from a distance, at first), but once he settles in and feels comfortable, you might find him head bonking your legs in no time. We think he would do best in a quiet home with at least one other cat to help him feel comfortable. In all fairness, he may remain one of those beautiful boys who may need to be enjoyed and loved from a distance. He is quite playful and athletic and he’s really smart, too. (We think he’d love a really tall cat condo where he can perch and observe.)
