A shelter dog named Safira just proved that good things come to those who wait.
The 11-year-old dog has been patiently waiting for a forever home since she arrived in 2011 at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. She has spent her whole life at the sanctuary learning to play nice with other dogs and living her best dog life. However, she always hoped a loving family would come along and take her home.
Safira was taken on hikes by caretakers and spoiled with tons of balls, her absolute favorite thing. A video of her rolling in a pool full of balls went viral in 2015, but sadly did not lead to a forever home.
The playful pup takes some time to warm up to people but once she does, she is the most loyal companion. The shelter said, ” Safira is a loyal friend who’ll stick with you through thick and thin. A sensitive soul, she prefers a quiet environment without too many loud, scary noises. But if you have a tennis ball and a few hours to spend throwing it, she’ll be the happiest dog in the world.”
Staff and volunteers refused to give up and knew the perfect person was out there and would one day come forward.
Over 10 years later, that day has finally come. Best Friends announced the exciting news that Safira has been adopted.
“In case you need a mid-week pick me up, 11-year-old Safira was ✨ ADOPTED ✨ from our Sanctuary last week.
Safira has been at our Sanctuary since 2011, and we couldn’t be happier this sweet gal has a home to spend her golden years in,” wrote the shelter.
Safira was pictured in a plastic pool full of tennis balls with a huge smile on her face. We wish her a long and happy life in her new home.
