Niall Harbison is determined to save as many street dogs as possible in Thailand, which has close to one million stray dogs.
He spends his days personally feeding 80 dogs and caring for a dozen sick or injured dogs at his sanctuary. But he doesn’t stop there…
Homemade nutritious food is prepared every day to feed 800 street dogs on Koh Samui. Volunteers and locals help deliver the food and ensure as many dogs as possible have a full belly.
In addition to the food, he focuses on medical care and sterilizing (spay/neuter) to reduce the number of dogs on the streets. When dogs are unable to return to the streets, he finds them a home locally or abroad.

Niall was a personal chef before coming to the island for a much-needed fresh start. The dogs have saved him in return, and he goes the extra mile to give them the best life possible.
This means taking some of the injured and senior dogs to the beach to wash their worries away, at least for a little while.
A video posted on his TikTok page showed four senior dogs who have serious injuries or health problems enjoying the sun and surf. “Tough street living. Derek, McMuffin, Snoop and Lady are all lucky to still be here. They spend so much time getting treatment and recovering that today I just wanted to give them something they’d never forget. A day that nobody can ever take away from them,” wrote Niall.

They were able to feel like young dogs again as they swam in the water with assistance. They were finally able to move freely without pain. The fun continued on the beach where each dog was given a tasty bone and allowed to take in the sea air.
The touching video was viewed by thousands who thanked Niall for taking such amazing care of the seniors and for all he does for the dogs. @dianelambb commented, “You’ve not only rescued these dogs but you’ve saved their souls”.

The kindhearted man said that it “feels like he’s won the lottery” every day when he rides around on his moped feeding the hungry pups. He is able to help so many dogs thanks to his supporters and wants to reduce the amount of street dogs in the world by 50%, which he knows is a huge goal – but continues to work towards it.
