Senior dogs are constantly overlooked for younger dogs, but people are missing out on amazing companions.
The wise old souls are full of love and have already mastered basic commands and housetraining. They just need someone to give them a chance.
A 10-year-old hound dog named Honey is as sweet as her name. She has been patiently waiting for someone to choose her at an animal rescue in Jacksonville, North Carolina.
Adoption First Animal Rescue recently held an adoption event at a local pet store to show off some of their adoptable pets, including Honey. She was on her best behavior and rested quietly in her crate as people passed by.
Sadly, she was overlooked at the event as well.
A heartbreaking video posted on TikTok by the rescue shows Honey looking at people as they stroll right by her. Many tears were shed by people who watched the sad video, but they shared it in hopes of finding Honey the loving home she deserves.
@adoptionfirstnc Honey is good with cats, dogs, and kids! She’s the whole package! She just needs a nice loving home to live out her final years in #adopt #adoptme #rescue #rescuedog #adoptdontshop #northcarolina #fyp #foryoupage #dogsoftiktok #dogtok #seniordog ♬ Lights Are On – Tom Rosenthal
One person said, “well that killed me everybody just walking around her like she’s not even there I wish I could take her.”
Another commented, “The way she’s afraid to look at anyone and actually HOPE they could be her person”.
She watches as other dogs find their forever homes and wonders when it will be her turn.
Honey is the “whole package” as she gets along well with other dogs, cats, and kids. She arrived with masses on her body that were removed and tested heartworm-positive but has begun treatment. The rescue wrote, “She just needs a nice loving home to live out her final years in.”
Anyone interested in adopting Honey can find out more information here. The rescue adopts out of state so apply even if you don’t live in North Carolina. Share her story to help her find her happily ever after.
