Life is not always easy for pit bulls living in an animal shelter. Because of the reputation of pit bulls, they are sometimes overlooked while other dogs find their forever homes.
That was the case with a pit bull/terrier mix named Chauncey. She watched as one dog after another found a new home, but nobody gave her a chance.
Fortunately, Kaki Taylor was watching the situation and she wanted to do something about it. When volunteering at the Spartanburg Humane Society in South Carolina, she took a picture of the 2-year-old dog that would make a difference.
You can see Chauncey peeking through the kennel as one dog after another walked by on the way to their forever home. After posting the picture on Facebook, it went viral.
According to The Dodo, the CEO of the Humane Society in Spartanburg, Angel Cox, said the dog was sweet but shy. The noise at the shelter made her nervous.
After one family saw the post about the dog on Facebook, they scheduled a visit and had the opportunity to give her the chance to show her personality.
According to Cox, she sold herself right away. She won over her new owners with her sweetness.
Now that the pup has found a forever home, everyone at the shelter is thrilled. They feel it is also bittersweet because they will miss such a loving dog.
Now that one dog found a forever home, they are looking for the opportunity to find homes for many others.
