A day that is already a hard and sad day for actor Russell Crowe just got even more unbearable.
On March 30, which is the anniversary of his father’s (John Alexander Crowe) passing, his cherished 16-month-old Papillon named Louis was hit by a truck.
Heartbroken Crowe took to Twitter to share the devastating news and wrote, “Tiny, cheeky, brave. He won my heart. Unfortunately today, on the second anniversary of my fathers passing, Louis was hit by a truck. We tried to get him to the vet, but he died in my arms while I was telling him how much we loved him.”

A photo of the adorable butterfly-eared dog accompanied the distressing post. Friends and fans took to the comments to share their condolences.
Fellow actor and producer, Vincent D’Onofrio, wrote, “So sorry to hear this Russel. My heart goes out to you.”
Irish singer-songwriter Janet Devlin said, “My condolences 🙏🏻🥺 he was such a special little guy! Sending all my love x”.
During an interview with The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Friday the 58-year-old actor started to cry when asked about his beloved Louis.
According to Daily Mail, when Crowe was asked if he was ok, he replied with tears in his eyes, “No, we’re actually a little devastated.”
He went on to say, “He was such a beautiful little pup you know and kind of wrapped us around him and shaped our lives around him. So, it’s gonna take a little time to get past.”
I’m not at all a fan of dressing dogs up, but, a friend bought little Louis a @RalphLauren polo so he can match with dad. I think the other dogs on the farm are going to get jealous. Pretty funny. pic.twitter.com/odmCZwfvA8

Losing a dog, no matter how long you have him/her, is just as hard as losing a family member because they are part of the family from the day you bring them home.
