Staff with a dog rescue discovered six puppies abandoned in a cardboard box in a field, left to die.
The Dog Rescue Shelter in Serbia received a call about abandoned puppies left in a box in a field around 11 miles from the shelter.
Rescuers were quick to respond, and they immediately drove out to the field in search of the puppies. When they arrived, they discovered the cardboard box, and inside they found six tiny puppies who were so young they could barely open their eyes.
The rescuer quickly began checking the puppies to make sure they were all alive and responsive. Thankfully, none of the pups appeared to be in critical condition, though they wouldn’t last long on their own.

They searched for a mother dog, or additional puppies around the box but came up empty-handed. They said, “We can’t find their mother, she must be so sad without them.”
They further explained, “In Serbia many people do not spay/neuter their dogs. They forcibly take the puppies away from the mother and leave them somewhere to die hungry and thirsty.”
While things could’ve ended tragically for these six puppies, the staff at Dog Rescue Shelter weren’t about to let anything happen to the little pups.
They took them back to the shelter where they were determined to be around 3 weeks old, five females and one male. Puppies are supposed to stay with their mothers for a minimum of 12 weeks for the best outcome and they nurse until 4-6 weeks of age.
Rescuers knew the puppies needed to eat, but they were going to have to be bottle-fed. Thankfully, it seems the rescue is doing everything it can to provide the pups with the support and care that they need.
