When Karina, a volunteer at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington, was asked to foster five newborn kittens, the Virginia woman knew she’d have her hands full.

Fortunately, Karina also had a secret weapon — her beloved cat, Beast, a rescued kitten who’d grown up to be an excellent foster dad with a knack for grooming rescued kittens into happy, behaved, and confident cats.

Beast’s gentle presence quickly helped comfort the kittens, who were understandably stressed after being orphaned and homeless at such a young age. “It took them some time to feel comfortable with me, which of course is understandable,” Karina told Love Meow.

But when Beast was around, the tiny siblings — BooBoo, Luke, Flower, Lily, and Blossom – began to relax and blossom in their new home. “He is always curious about what’s going on in the foster room,” said Karina, recalling how the gentle cat showered his new charges with love and attention.

As the kittens continued to grow, Beast also took an active role in making sure everybody knew how to be a good cat. This included teaching kittens how to eat from a bowl, helping them groom, and showing them how to cuddle and play. Being around younger cats even seemed to help Beast relive his own kitten days.

“Once the kittens could roam the house, Beast definitely was an older brother figure,” Karina recalled. “He’d clean them, play with them, chase them. He acted like a kitten again which was so cute to watch.”

Now 2 of the kittens are already ready to find their new homes, which is really a testament to Beast’s nurturing instincts. What an incredible cat! You can find out more about Beast by following him and Karina on Instagram.
