Actress Rachel Bilson took to Instagram to share the devastating news that her ‘first baby’, Thurmen Murmen, had passed away.
The 15-year-old dog was a huge part of Bilson’s life and often accompanied her to interviews and daily adventures in Los Angeles. Bilson adopted the poodle mix and loved him with all her heart. Whenever she was out of town for work, Thurman would spend time at Grandma’s house and talk to his mom on the phone.
When Bilson would call her mother to check in she told People, “I hear him barking in the background. We’re both crazy dog people. So she’ll try to get him on the phone.”
The O.C. star posted the sad news with a photo of the pup as a youngster with black fur and a more recent photo showing off his silver locks.
“My first baby, the sweet but grumpy old man left us today. Thurmen Murmen never thought I’d say this but I already miss your bark. Love you for life sweet baby buddy,” she wrote.
Her fans quickly responded by sending their condolences and telling her to take it one day at a time. Anyone who has lost a dog or beloved animal knows what she’s going through.
“So very sorry. They are our heart and soul aren’t they💔,” said one follower.
Fellow actress and friend, Many Moore, also recently lost her beloved rescue dog and wrote, “I’m so sorry. 15 years is quite a ride but the loss is a deep one. Sending you love. Xoxox”.
Bilson replied with, “thanks babe I know you lost your sweet girl recently too. Sending so much love ❤️.”
