As dog owners, we do our best to give our pets the best. We like to spoil them and treat them well, and sometimes that includes letting them ride in the car right in the passenger seat!
While it’s recommended that dogs are always secured in a moving vehicle with a safety restraint, many pet parents think it’s fine to let their pets free-roam in the car.
Unfortunately, there are countless reasons why it’s not a good idea to let your dog ride in a car without a seat belt, and that includes a recent case when a puppy narrowly missed death when she leaped from a moving Tesla.
According to Inside Edition, Ryan Cramer was driving along a busy Los Angeles freeway with his six-month-old puppy, Sophie, when the unthinkable happened.
Cramer had reportedly rolled down the window to enjoy some fresh air and that’s when Sophie decided to leap out the window into oncoming traffic!
Footage captured the moment Sophie bounced on the hard concrete, narrowly dodging a semi-truck and other vehicles.
Miraculously, Cramer was able to pull off to the side of the road and grab Sophie. While she did suffer a fractured hip from the jump, she’s expected to make a full recovery.
You can see her leaping from the car and into traffic in the video below:
