The attention of the shelter workers at the Seal Beach Animal Care Center was caught by a pure-bred husky which appeared like it was living on the street as a stray.
Yet, there was something else in its eyes that reflected deep loneliness, fear, wariness, and distrust of people who wanted to help it,
But, he did not look like an ordinary homeless dog and so the shelter workers took him in to feed and care for it while they search for its owner.
After scanning for a microchip, they were shocked to find out that the dog actually belonged to a laboratory!
They learned that the husky’s name was Nate, and he was dumped on the street by the notorious animal testing lab for being already useless to them after the dog showed signs of being “psychologically disturbed”.
The staff at the animal shelter were angered and grieved by all the cruelty that Nate must have gone through. Nobody knows what kind of experiments were done on him, but what was certain was that Nate’s scars were deep.
And so, Seal Beach Animal Care Center contacted the Beagle Freedom Project which had successfully dealt with animal testing victims before.
Beagle Freedom Project was quick to respond with compassion and found a foster mom for Nate who could give him the special care that he needed.
The woman made extra efforts in rehabilitating Nate and restoring his faith in people even if it meant months of patient training. The most important element she included in the husky’s training was genuine love.
Months later, Nate could already smile brightly and play around with a carefree spirit. He has also come to love people who understand his traumatic past and are ready to welcome him with open arms.
Nate is now just waiting for his new forever home where he can live in happiness and tranquility.
Let us all take a firm stand against animal abuse and cruelty!
