When Jacks Anderson and his wife went out to eat at a restaurant, they expected to have a nice meal and continue about their day. But as they were sitting at the table outside, they noticed a stray dog hungrily watching from a short distance away.
As the owners of No Bad Dogs K9 Training & Rescue, the couple quickly took interest in the stray dog, but she was eventually shoed away by the restaurant staff.
While they thought that would be the end of it, they ended up spotting the dog again after leaving the restaurant. When they saw her this time, though, they realized she was very pregnant!
Of course, they couldn’t leave the poor mama dog on the streets. They knew she needed a safe place to give birth and a better future for her and her puppies. However, getting the dog help was going to be difficult.
The mama dog, who they named Poppy, was skittish and hesitant around people. She wouldn’t let the couple approach her at all, though she didn’t run away entirely. It seemed that she was hopeful for a bite to eat, but she was afraid at the same time.
The couple said on TikTok, “She was very skittish, but we could see some of the scars that she has, so I understood why she didn’t want to risk it.”
Eventually, the wife ended up winning over the dog’s trust with some leftovers from her meal. After that, Poppy’s attitude changed entirely. She trusted the couple enough to hop in their car and they were able to drive her to a veterinarian for a check-up.
@gatorsnuggles The only thing I struggle with living here are the street dogs. 💔🥺 #dog #rescuedog #fyp #foryourpage #pitbull @princesstigerlily6969
After the check-up, Poppy was welcomed into the Anderson home as a foster. She settled into her home quickly and seemed at peace with her new family.
It was a beautiful thing! Initially, she was just going to stay with the Andersons until she gave birth and her puppies were old enough to find their forever homes, but she ended up stealing the Anderon’s hearts. They couldn’t give her up and decided to make her a permanent member of their family.

Poppy was so content with her new life!
It didn’t take long before she was completely comfortable with her new forever family, letting down any and all walls she had up:

Poppy ended up giving birth in the comfort of her new home on November 4, 2021. She had 9 puppies, 6 boys and 3 girls.
All of her puppies were healthy and well, and Poppy proved to be a fantastic mother.
She cared for her babies and was so attentive and loving.
The Andersons announced the news on TikTok:
@gatorsnuggles Reply to @lorismith222 9 healthy pups – 6 males & 3 females. More to come #dog #dogsoftiktok #rescuedog #puppies
Eventually, the pups grew until they were old enough to find their forever homes across the country. The Anderson’s helped place each of the nine puppies with a new family, and some even ended up going to new homes in pairs!
The best part is that the families sometimes share updates with the Andersons so they know how Poppy’s babies are doing. Needless to say, it looks like they’re loving life:
