Suffolk police recovered more than 80 dogs during a raid last month and they’re now looking for the owners of the dogs.
According to a recent press release, the department released photos of 48 of the 83 dogs that were taken during a raid on the outskirts of Ipswich. The department is hoping that the owners of the dogs come forward with proof of ownership so they can each be untied with their owners.
The raid happened after a travelers’ site was suspected of housing stolen pets connected with local thefts. Their suspicions were accurate and the officers were able to seize more than 80 dogs that were discovered at the site.
The dogs ranged in breeds, size, and age. None of the dogs’ owners have been located as of yet, so the department released photos in hopes that someone will recognize their missing pet.
According to the release, a “lack of identifying features and information” is making the process of finding the original owners “challenging.” None of the dogs have up-to-date microchips, making the process that much more difficult.

Anyone who believes the dogs to be theirs can email the police with proof of ownership at opscout@suffolk.pnn.police.uk. The press release stressed the importance of submitting an email inquiry regarding dog ownership by May 24, 2021. They must submit a full name, contact details, and the image number of the dog(s) they’re inquiring about.
The senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Wallace, said, “We are keen to hear from anyone who believes any of the dogs in the images may be theirs. During the last few weeks officers have been liaising with other police forces around the country, as well as conducting a number of other enquiries, in order to establish where the dogs may have originated from.”

Beyond the 83 dogs being confiscated during the raid, 4 people were also arrested and face court on June 17, including two men, 39 and 34 years old respectively, and two women, 46 and 41 years old respectively.
