A Scottish police officer was in for quite the surprise while conducting a routine auto check on a black estate car.
The car was traveling along A84 in Craighforth, Stirling in the UK when the officer spotted it and decided to pull it over for an inspection.
However, the cop had no idea what was about to happen! When he pulled over the car, he was quickly greeted by a large alpaca sticking its head out the backseat window.
The Forth Valley police shared about the surprise car guest on Twitter, writing:
“#ForthValleyRP conducted a road check this morning at Craigforth. #OperationScrutinise. Various vehicles defects were discovered along with some unusual passengers. Some of those engaged were more appreciative of our Road Safety advice than others!”

It’s not common to see an alpaca taking a cruise in the family car, but alpacas do make great pets! Perhaps this one felt like they were a dog instead of a member of the camel family.
According to LiveScience, they are 4 to 7 feet long and can between weigh 121 and 143 lbs. It’s no wonder they’re not generally house (or car) pets!
While the police department didn’t go into further detail on why the alpaca was taking a ride in the car, there were plenty of comments praising the animal’s owner for taking such good care of their pet. After all, most parents of a farm animal wouldn’t allow such a large, messy animal in their car!
What do you think? Would you ever drive with an alpaca? Let us know!
