A sweet puppy named Pickles had a rough start to life when at just 3 months old, she was tragically attacked by her littermates and rushed to the Humane Society of San Diego‘s Pilar & Chuck Bahde Center for Shelter Medicine. Lethargic and still bleeding from wounds to her legs and shoulders, their veterinarians jumped into action, performing an emergency exam and radiographs, followed swiftly by surgery to repair her wounds. While they don’t specify her breed, she looks to be a Frenchie-pit bull mix.
Veterinarian Medicine
Regardless, this sweet puppy needed four drains placed in her wounds while she healed, and was prescribed pain medication and antibiotics. As she recovered, the hardworking team provided daily rechecks and bandage changes every two to three days. Throughout her treatment, she was the perfect patient and a real trooper! In the process, the staff understandably fell in love with Pickles’ sweet spirit. Finally, after 12 days of care, the resilient little pup slowly started to walk again.
Happy Holidays!
All of this happened back in November and, as adorable as Miss Pickles is, it’s no surprise that just one day after her bandages were finally removed, she was adopted into a forever home — giving her so much to be thankful for this holiday season. She now enjoys a house full of love with other resident pets and fun trips to the beach. The whole family adores her and she obviously loves them right back, as her YouTube video clearly demonstrates.
