If you have a social media account highlighting your pet or pets, you’ve likely had your inbox inundated with pet brands looking for brand ambassadors. This is particularly true if your page posts regularly and has a growing fan base. They frequently ask if your dog or cat would mind wearing something of theirs or trying out their food, toys, treats, etc., and then post about it. It’s a great way to get free stuff, especially if your furbaby becomes popular. Before you know it, more and more of these brands are lined up with offers.

Brand Ambassadors

Well, if you’ve ever toyed with the idea and forgotten about it, you may want to reconsider. According to CNN, your dog can earn $10,000 a year as an influencer. Yup, you read that right, 10Gs just for promoting a brand in your spare time. This is a nice little side hustle if you’re retired or living on a single income. You could buy a lot of biscuits with that kind of money, but you’d likely already be getting them for free in addition to cash, so perhaps you could spend it on yourself or save it for a rainy day.

Yappy

One brand, in particular, is looking for just such a pet right now. It’s Yappy.com, an online site for pet gifts. They’re looking for their first-ever “Chief Fluff Officer,” a side gig paying up to $10,000 a year. According to the company, “The successful pup will be a natural behind the camera, always happy to strike a pose and genuinely enjoy having their photo taken and being filmed as they try out our latest personalized gifts.” the company says in the job ad. Sounds ruff, huh?

Pet Influencers

The job description for Chief Fluff Officer states that your pet must be groomed and camera ready, but be “comfortable showing off their best poses, sassy struts, tail wags, tricks, and expressions.” The payoff is your dog will be paid, be the recipient of fun pet products, and occasionally get to (or have to, depending on how you look at it) travel for photoshoots. To be considered for the position of Chief Fluff Officer, you have to complete an online application for your pet by November 18, 2022. “We’re keen to cast the net as wide as possible, so we can give everyone a chance to apply for this amazing role,” Yappy informed CNN. “This is the first time we’ve offered the role and so far’ we’ve had over 3,000 applications.”

The Right Stuff

If you think your dog has what it takes to land the role, you can apply here. Just remember: if your pup gets the gig, they may get a big head afterwards and start acting like a prima donna, so tread carefully. All that unprovoked voguing could get old real fast.
