A severely malnourished dog was discovered at an abandoned property near Pittsburgh.
A resident in the area saw a dark-colored sedan pull into a driveway of an abandoned house and let the dog out of the car. The person then proceeded to throw a ball out the window, which the dog chased after, and then drove away. They immediately contacted the local police.
Crescent Township Police Department received the call and headed to the unoccupied property. They found the sweet dog who was clearly in need of food, water, and love.
They brought her back to the station where she took a nap before heading to Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh to be treated.
She received a police escort to the shelter and enjoyed gazing out the window.
Upon arriving at the shelter, she was treated to peanut butter and a name change. She was previously called Beans which has been changed to Crescent. She is literally skin and bones but is finally getting the care she needs.
Her road to recovery will be long so the shelter is asking for donations to help cover her care. The sweet girl was starved and then abandoned by the people who were supposed to love and care for her. She deserves a second chance at happiness and that is exactly what she will get.
Crescent Township Police Department posted photos of the poor dog on social media and asked the community for help in finding the person(s) responsible.
Chief Longerman posted, “A Board Member from Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh has put up a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest, prosecution, and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the cruelty toward Beans/Crescent.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crescent Township Police Department.
Follow the shelter on Facebook for updates on Crescent.
