The event starts at the Golden Visitor Center where hundreds of golden retrievers and their humans gather. Then the group parades through town and ends with a group photo under the arch.
After the parade the dogs can explore the town and nearby trails with their families.

There are just a few rules…
All dogs must be on a leash and on their best behavior. Everyone must also follow the Golden Rule, treat others as you would want to be treated, and clean up after their pets.
This year’s event took place on Saturday, February 5 and attracted people from Colorado and surrounding states.

The sun was out, and the streets were filled with all shades of golden retrievers and their people. Over 1,300 golden retrievers ranging in size and age packed together for a group photo. The energy and excitement were contagious and one dog owner told 9News, “It’s like better than Disney World.”
Tails were wagging in excitement, and everyone had a smile on their face. Another attendee said, “They’re going crazy – I am too.”
A person who traveled a great distance to attend said, “Had such a great time! So worth the 900 mile drive 💗”.
The city thanked everyone who came out for the celebration and posted, “Thank you to all who joined today’s Goldens in Golden. We met Goldens (and people) from all over Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico who visited Golden for this heart warming and tail wagging event!”
