Humans love pizza and cats love boxes, so what better way to help adoptable cats find homes than by placing their photos on pizza boxes?
Last year, Mary Alloy owner of Just Pizza in Amherst, New York, helped shelter dogs at Niagara County SPCA find loving homes by placing their photos on pizza boxes.
This year, she decided it was time to help cats and reached out to Ten Lives Club.
“I’ve always helped Ten Lives Club by donating pizza to their events so when I was looking for a way to help another organization in a positive way, the work they do for cats seemed like the ‘purrfect’ fit! I have several cats at home myself and they make the best companions,” said Alloy.
Ten Lives Club has been rescuing cats for the past 20 years – saving over 35,000 cats. The rescue is always looking for ways to attract more adopters and was thrilled when Alloy approached them about a Pizza + Cat campaign.
The rescue posted the exciting news and said, “We are so incredibly grateful for this opportunity and we look forward to working with Mary and her kindhearted and selfless family!”
Each pizza box now features a photo of an adoptable cat with information on how to adopt. In addition, anyone who adopts a cat through the rescue will receive a $50 gift certificate to Just Pizza.
The humans can enjoy the delicious pizza while the rescued cat plays with the box, a win-win.

The campaign is already working!
Gracy, a 2-year-old shy gray cat, was the poster cat for the campaign and finally found a purrfect home after a woman spotted her photo on a pizza box.
“This morning a lovely woman came into Ten Lives Club, cat carrier in hand, to adopt our beautiful Gracy,” posted the rescue. “We are so excited for Gracy who was having trouble finding a forever home because she was so nervous. Her new owner will be enjoying dinner compliments of Just Pizza for adopting today. We can’t wait to see who gets adopted next!”
Just Pizza is also hosting a “Help a Rescue Pet!” fundraiser for the cat rescue. For a donation of $1 or more, customers can write their pets name on a card that will be displayed in the front window of the pizzeria.
“Mary has been battling a rare cancer for months and going through chemotherapy at Roswell. The fact that she is still always looking for ways to give back while fighting this terrible disease is simply amazing…but that’s just what Mary is. Amazing,” said Ten Lives Club Public Relations Manager Kimberly LaRussa.
