These stories were originally shared on The Animal Rescue Site. Submit your own rescue story here. Your story just might be the next to be featured on our blog! I knew my 14-year-old kitty, Tabitha, was ill. Being the last of her family, she was alone while I was at work. So I visited my vets’ adoption clinic “just to look” for a mature, laid back cat to keep her company. The vet techs said they were so glad I’d come in, I just had to see their newest stray. When I learned he was about 6-months-old, I almost...

California Black Bear Cubs Are Less Afraid Of Humans Due To Puzzling Brain Illness

A neurological disease in California black bear cubs is causing them to act more “dog-like” and be less afraid of humans. California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has encountered four young bears in the past year suffering from the mysterious brain illness. This is the most cases the state has seen since it first appeared in 2014. Photo: Pixabay In 2014, a young black bear was found...

That is what happened with Melvin, a dog who spent 667 days in Los Angeles at the shelter run by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. He had a rough life, including needing a lot of medical care due to...

The moonlight was astonishing, the air was clear and very chilly. As he walked in, a 12-week-old Siamese kitten ran in with him and up the stairs. She was starved and flea-infested. Her nose and eyes were caked with mucus. She was dying from pneumonia...

We didn’t normally do it, but I felt they needed a...

Humane Society International Releases Animated Short Film About Cruel Reality Of Animal Testing

Animal testing is cruel and unnecessary. Rabbits are still used around the world to test shampoos, mascaras, sunscreen, and other beauty products. Once the experiment is complete, they are either used for another cruel test or euthanized. Photo: Pixabay Rabbits deserve better. Humane Society International (HSI) is taking a stand for the voiceless animals with the...
