Dog That Lost Her Snout While Saving Two Girls Dies In Her Sleep At 13
We all know that dogs are capable of some amazing things, but sometimes they get the opportunity to prove it in a great way. That was the case with Kabang, who saved two girls from being hit by a motorcycle. It took place back in 2012 in the Philippines, and we are sad to report that Kabang has now died. The announcement came from the dog’s veterinarian, Dr. Anton Lim, who said that Kabang died peacefully in her sleep. Her owner passed away in 2015, and the veterinarian has been caring for her ever since. Photo: Facebook/Anton Mari H....

Let’s face it, dogs are awesome, and when we have one as part of our family, we do what we can to make them happy and comfortable. Every so often, however, we hear about somebody who takes things to the next level and that is the case with Jonathan Lower. Jonathan is a doggy daddy to his golden retriever, Teddy. He is also a TikTok user, known as @thehomeprojectguy. He decided to take on a unique project recently, spending more than $5000 to create the best doghouse for his furry best friend. Man Goes To Jail Instead Of Giving Up His Dog
We all say that we would go to the ends of the earth for our furry companion, but Barry Myrick had the opportunity to put it to a test. Myrick was a pest-control professional with M&M Environmental in Queens. Roxy, his dog, is a pit bull that sniffs out bedbugs. Although that is the case, he considers her to be his “best friend,” in addition to his work companion. How far was Myrick willing to go in order to show his devotion to his dog? Perhaps further than most people, because he has Roxy tattooed on his leg. Photo: Pixabay...
Dogs Get So Excited Returning To Daycare For The First Time Since Lockdown
The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted public life to a degree that we have never seen before. Of course, while we were going through it, our four-legged friends were also going through major changes. While many pets were excited to spend more time at home with their owners, some were also missing their doggy friends, like the ones they had at doggy daycare. Some dogs in New Zealand were finally able to head back to doggy daycare and their reactions are so precious. Photo: Pixabay When Laken Richardson with Two Brown Dogs Doggy Daycare placed a...
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Proposes New ESA Listings for the Declining Lesser Prairie Chicken
The lesser prairie chicken can be found in the southern Great Plains, but it’s roaming on less than 90% of its historical range. Wildlife officials say one of its remaining populations is at risk of extinction. To help protect the species, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is recommending that it be listed on the Endangered Species Act. However, the move is already facing outcry about its possible impact on agricultural producers. USFWS Regional Director Amy Lueders says, “The loss of America’s native grasslands and...
Blind Senior Cat Adopted By Woman Who Only Sees His Loving Heart
Once upon a time, Johnathan had a loving home, but the 9-year-old cat wound up at The Animal Rescue League of Boston when his owner passed away. But at the shelter, the senior cat got more bad news. Veterinarians discovered Johnathan suffered from entropion, a painful condition that left his eyelids tilting inwards, causing friction with every blink. “Think of it as if your eyelashes were on the other side of your eyelid. Whenever you blink, it’s going to irritate your eye,” a shelter worker, Mike DeFina, told TODAY....

When an Ohio man decided to visit the local racetrack and casino, he was hoping to win big. But the trip spelled misfortune for his trusty dog, who was left alone in the car while her owner gambled for hours. The man didn’t even bother cracking a window to give the dog some air. Photo: Hollywood Gaming In Austinwood, Ohio By 1 pm, the temperature outside had climbed to 84 degrees, which is when worried bystanders began calling the police. One man called 911 after watching a heavily panting dog collapse on the seat. According to WKBN,...

Lost Deaf Dog Reunited With Deaf Owner Thanks To GPS Collar
Microchips are lifesavers when it comes to lost pets, but so are GPS collars. An Illinois family decided to take extra precautions when they adopted a deaf dog and it paid off big time. Lex, a two-year-old Australian shepherd, doesn’t let his lack of hearing hinder his zest for life. He loves to play in his fenced yard with his canine brother, Jack. But one day he discovered the gate was open and left his yard. Screenshot: YouTube/WGN News The Rollin family adopted Lex from Speak St. Louis, a rescue that focuses on saving double merles...

To Help Identify Threats and Boost Conservation, Kenya is Conducting its First Wildlife Census
Kenya is rich in biodiversity, with more than 35,000 species of plants and animals. The country has already taken steps to address the decline of many of its species. Now, it’s looking to better understand and protect native animals with a first-ever wildlife census. In May, the country embarked on the two-month effort. Using aircraft, GPS trackers, boats, and camera traps, Kenya’s Wildlife Service is aiming to count every animal. Rangers, researchers, and community members will work to cover all the country’s 58 national...
Rescued Pets Were Waiting At Shelter When A Special Delivery Arrived
Willow is a deaf 5-year-old lab mix, but she doesn’t let her disability get her down. But this playful dog was still surrendered by her former owners, who couldn’t meet this active gal’s daily exercise needs. Fortunately, Willow wound up at Noble Friends Foundation for OC Animal Care, a California shelter committed to giving unwanted dogs and cats a second chance. “Willow is a very playful white Labrador mix that also happens to be special needs,” shelter workers told Greater Good Charities. “Willow is deaf...

Ducklings Follow Their Mom Through An Elementary School As Part Of A 20-Year Tradition
20 years ago, a mama duck found a nest in the courtyard of a school. The only problem was that there was no easy, direct access to the nearby pond. Rather than move the nesting spot, the mama mallard decided to stay where she was and find a way to walk her little ducklings to the pond in the spring. The only way to get there with her little ducks, who were too small to fly, was to walk directly through the Eisenhower Elementary school. Since that first year the mama duck made the trek through the school with her ducklings, they repeat the...
Cats Recreate Famous Scene From ‘The Lion King’
Two cats perfectly recreated the iconic scene from The Lion King where Scar pushes Mufasa off the cliff. Mariah Garret was at home when she noticed her two cats had climbed onto the top of an upturned mattress. They were taking the bedframe apart, so the mattress was sitting on its side, with the top of it resting clear up by the ceiling. Knowing her cats and the mischief they get into, Garrett pulled out a camera to record the little felines in action, but she never could’ve guessed what they were about to do. Photo:...
Dogs Are Being Trained To Detect COVID-19 In Seconds
Trained dogs can now detect COVID-19 within seconds. Six trained Bio Detection dogs with the Medical Detection Dogs organization went through double-blind testing to see if COVID-19 had a smell that dogs could pick up on. As it turns out, it does and dogs can detect it with “high levels of accuracy.” The Medical Detection Dogs shared on Facebook, “This means they can very reliably identify when people do and do not have the disease and crucially, they detected it even when samples were from asymptomatic individuals.”...
Woman Finds Giant Huntsman Spider In Her Car While Speeding
A woman was startled to see a massive huntsman spider crawl out of her car mirror as she was driving around 60mph down the highway. Spiders of all sizes are notorious for giving people the heebie-jeebies and huntsman spiders are at the top of the list for some of the creepiest. While they’re actually pretty harmless when left alone, their size can be quite intimidating. The Australian Museum reports that they average 15cm (or 5 inches) long. Deaf Dog Makes Up Her Own ‘Bark’
A video shows a deaf dog attempting her own version of a “bark,” after never hearing one before. Similar to humans, dogs who are deaf can still make noise. Deaf humans can still talk, and deaf dogs can still bark. However, it might not sound quite the same as coming from someone whose hearing. Lindsay Kelly knows just how true this is because her dog Reggie, who was born deaf, attempts to bark in the most adorable way. In a TikTok video, Kelly explained that Reggie had never heard barking before, but she could see other dogs...
