Miles Finch is a beautiful cat living his best life, so looking at him, you’d never know that he endured a cruel past.
Sadly, Miles came from an alleged cruelty case in Muncie, Indiana.
Jessica Johnson, senior director of the Animal Rescue Team for the Humane Society of the United States, saw many cats in situations like Miles’, but she knew he was special.
In the fall of 2021, Johnson’s husband had come from a rescue that the team did where Miles was.
The animals were in deplorable conditions. There were over 100 cats inside the home, which wreaked of ammonia, and had no fresh food or water for the cats. Every single surface in the entire home was covered with feces or some type of debris, so there was nowhere clean for the cats to lay.
Miles was one of the first cats they saw, as he was meowing and starved for attention.
While Johnson and her husband never considered themselves ‘cat people,’ when they saw Miles, everything changed. Their little daughter wanted a cat too, so they decided to bring Miles home and adopt him.
Miles loves playing tea time with their daughter, laying in bed with their dog, and hanging out with Johnson in her office while she’s working.
“Seeing that stark contrast from where he came from, to now having him in our home every day and just knowing that he will never have to live that life again,” Johnson said. “To see that come full circle is pretty cool.”
