Anyone who might have seen a mountain goat in action knows that goats have an amazing grasp on gravity. They are quite sure-footed as they scale heights that would make the rest of us cry.
And there is one dam in Italy, in the Antrona Valley Natural Park, that has some wild alpine ibex, also called mountain goats, that perform amazing climbing feats.
The former host of the BBC series, Forces of Nature, Brian Cox, went to this spot in order to observe the mountain goats take on the almost fully vertical walls of the dam.
The reason that these goats are willing to defy gravity and death is because of the mineral salt deposits found in these stones. They’re a necessary part of their nutritional intake, which is why they scale the walls in order to access them.
And Cox managed to get some incredible footage of the mountain goats as they scale the side of the damn. Nature is truly an incredible thing to witness.
