Anyone who has ever had a dog knows that no two dogs are alike. Dogs are much more complex than we give them credit for.

Just like us, dogs feel a plethora of emotions, and they also have their own individual likes and dislikes. We can all agree that a dog’s little personality quirks are what makes them even more endearing to us. Just like people, dogs get very set in their ways – especially when they enter their golden years.

For Kelli Brown, her 12-year-old pup, Jaxon, was very set in his ways as an old dog. He knew exactly what he liked, and he knew exactly what he didn’t like.

It became routine, but one day, Kelli made a horrifying discovery. While at the local pet store on a trip to replace Jaxon’s Top Paw toy, Kelli couldn’t find it. When she asked, it turned out that the toy had been discontinued. Not knowing what else to do, Kelli went online to try and find some answers.

While on Twitter, Kelli tweeted PetSmart a message that said, “PLZ HELP! This Top Paw toy has been discontinued but it’s the only toy 12 y/o Jaxon will play with. Got any laying around? We’ll buy them all up if you’ll let us! Our internet search brought us no luck. Very sad boy here!!”

She included a photo of Jaxon with his favorite toy, hoping to get the word out about Jaxon’s predicament. The photo is so adorable, it didn’t take long for dog people everywhere to see the tweet and attempt to help in any way they could.

Plenty of people shared the tweet, and eventually, it got to Matt Nelson, founder of the massively popular “dog_rates” account. Matt retweeted it and that ended up getting seen by a PetSmart employee who shared it to their company Facebook page.

Soon, employees at various PetSmart locations started going through their inventory trying to help Jaxon get his paws on his favorite toy. Thanks to the kindness of strangers on the internet, Kelli had a wonderful follow-up to share less than a month later. In her update, she happily showed off a joyful-looking Jaxon who was laying down with 8 of his favorite plushie toy.

Her post stated, “Remember posting Baby J’s plea for a retired PetSmart toy (Greenie) awhile back? Happy to say the power of the internet came through BIG TIME. He is so happy right now… thank you all!!!”

This is definitely a wonderfully heartwarming reminder that people are more than willing to help when they can. We’re so happy Jaxon got his toys in the end.
