When a five-year-old beagle mix named Bonnie disappeared from her home in the United Kingdom, her owners feared for the worst.

According to Wales Online, Paula and Peter Closier immediately began searching the local area, calling local veterinarians to put the word out and even got the police involved.

When their searches turned up empty, Paula took to social media to spread the news about her beloved pup in hopes that someone from the community might spot her.

As it turns out, John Wilmer happened to be on his way to a dog show with his two dogs when he saw Bonnie on the side of the road.

While John was tight on time, he didn’t want to leave the little pup all alone on the road so he scooped her up and made a quick Facebook post about finding a missing dog. Then, with Bonnie in tow, he carried on his way to the dog show.

According to Yahoo!News, since they were there already, John decided to enter Bonnie into a competition in the show under the category of rescue dogs! Not only did Bonnie compete, but she took home the 3rd place ribbon!

You can imagine the shock the Closier felt when their missing dog was returned with a ribbon from a dog show in a town over. Paula’s daughter, Eva Closier, even posted a photo of her holding Bonnie with her ribbon on Facebook and it’s quite cute. Bonnie looks so proud!

“We couldn’t believe it. You could not make it up. Bonnie was absolutely fine when she got back. She just thought she was having a great day out. When she was missing I had five different outcomes in my head, the best being that she came back. This was even better than that, she came back with a rosette,” Peter said, according to Yahoo!News.

Who knows, maybe this is the start of a show dog career for dear Bonnie!
