It doesn’t matter what size your dog is, they all want to climb up and snuggle with their pet parents, regardless of the available space. That’s what one TikToker’s husband had to deal with recently when their giant Newfoundland decided they wanted to get in on some snuggling action. Unfortunately for their human, there wasn’t enough room, but that didn’t stop Franklyn, a nine-month-old puppy the size of a pony, from trying.

Shared by TikTok user @shaunaconno, Franklyn can be seen trying to squeeze his massive bulk onto the loveseat with his dad, Travis. In a hushed whisper, the narration from Franklyn’s POV is adorable as he carefully yet clumsily tries to plant himself in a comfy position between Travis and the back of the tiny sofa. There’s nothing dainty or subtle about his technique, though, and Travis bravely allows the repositioning to proceed even though it can’t be comfortable being stepped all over by the “pup.” It looks more like a lion is mauling him.
Newfoundland Dogs
According to the American Kennel Club, male Newfies generally weigh between 130 – 150 lbs. They can weigh even more than that. Known as being affectionate, sweet-tempered, and good with children, they’re powerful working dogs with a heavy bone structure, but Travis and Shauna don’t need to be told that. It’s difficult to tell how much Franklyn actually weighs in the video, with his billowing fluffy coat, but it’s safe to say he probably already weighs as much as Travis — or darn close.
Couch Potatoes
The cute video only lasts 11 seconds, but anyone who’s ever been stepped all over by their pet in a similar fashion will definitely be able to relate. While it’s nice to have the extra warmth, and it’s comforting to have a living, breathing figure lying next to you, we can’t help but wonder what Travis is thinking while Franklyn does his best Fantasia dance routine on top of him as he grunts and groans while the dog settles in — or at least attempts to. The video, unfortunately, cuts out before we see the final result, but it’s fun to watch regardless. We’re envisioning tulle tutus and hippos at this point. What about you?
