The autumnal season is upon us! Days are getting shorter, nights are getting colder, the leaves are crunchy and colorful, and of course, you can’t go anywhere without seeing pumpkin spice products.
It’s an enjoyable time of the year, especially for Bam Bam – a rescued pitbull in Oregon who is getting to enjoy the outdoor autumn season for the very first time thanks to his owner, Nate.
As Nate shared in a video with The Dodo, “This is his first fall of his life I’m excited to show him everything about fall.”
Nate first adopted Bam Bam from the Real Good Rescue in Los Angeles. It broke his heart to know that his pooch had never gotten to experience the autumn season before.
So, he made it his mission to give Bam Bam the ultimate doggie fall experience, from getting to enjoy a dog-friendly pumpkin latte, to charging into a pile of leaves, Bam Bam did it all. He even got to accompany Nate to go to a pumpkin patch! Bam Bam really liked the pumpkin patch.
Nate explained to The Dodo, “We took him out to the pumpkin patch as soon as I let him off leash, he just started bolting around. He ended up picking the pumpkins that we ultimately picked and harvested. He was just… holding it like, ‘Yep, this is the pumpkin. We’re taking this one home.’”
While he might appear a happy dog now, that wasn’t always the case. In fact, when he was surrendered to the shelter by his owner, Bam Bam was devastated.
According to The Dodo, the founder of Real Good Rescue, Terah Gisolo, quickly noticed just how depressed Bam Bam was, and knew she had to find him a home soon or else he probably wouldn’t have long to live given how sad he was.
In the meantime, Terah decided to take him home to foster him. She shared that he was very scared of everything – that is, until he was introduced to the great outdoors. Bam Bam loved spending time outdoors as much as possible, and so she quickly realized he’d be the perfect match for one of her friends: Nate.
Terah shared, “He was still very fearful. I would take him for hikes. That’s when I started to really see him open up and blossom. There was a chance that he would get adopted by someone in LA but my best friend; he’s a super athlete. I basically told him that I had found his dog.”
What a great ending to a rough start for Bam Bam!
