A mail carrier in Houston discovered two dogs who were in need of help. He posted on Facebook, pleading for someone to come and get them.
When Samantha Zimmer saw his post, she knew she had to help. She and her fiancé drove around until she found the two dogs in a ditch.
One of them was lying down, and the other loyal dog waited for help for at least six hours after his friend got hit by a car and was left for dead. He stayed nearby and refused to leave his buddy’s side until people came to rescue them.
The injured dog wagged his tail as Zimmer and her fiancé approached him, but he was unable to get up or move on his own.
They gently picked him up as he cried out in pain, and placed him in their car so they could rush him to a nearby animal hospital.
He received the medical care he needed, and both dogs, who are now named Corey and Matthew, went to a non-profit rescue called Lola’s Lucky Day.
Matthew had fractures in both his radius and femoral head. While the radius fracture was splinted and will heal on its own, the femoral head required surgery.
Corey remained by Matthew’s side throughout his recovery. Matthew is doing so much better and is even up and walking on his own again!
