Louisiana has joined the growing list of states that are taking a stand for animals by banning the sale of cosmetic products tested on animals.
Using animals to test cosmetic products is cruel and unnecessary.
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has been working tirelessly to end this inhumane practice nationwide. “Eight other states (California, Nevada, Illinois, Virginia, Maryland, Maine, Hawaii and New Jersey) have already banned the sale of cosmetics that have been newly tested on animals. This win aligns with rising consumer opinion that there is no need to test products like shampoo, aftershave and lipstick on animals,” wrote HSUS.

There are alternatives that are more effective and do not harm animals. Sadly, according to HSI, “Although banned in 41 countries, cosmetics animal testing is still perfectly legal in most of the world, and tragically is making a comeback in Europe, subjecting untold thousands of animals to needless suffering and death.”
HSUS is pushing for a change at the Federal level with The Humane Cosmetics Act which would end cosmetic animal testing nationwide.
Join us in congratulating Louisiana on this victory and urge other states to do the same.
