The Bell family welcomed Whiskey into their lives around five months after losing their dog, Barbara, to an intestinal infection. Bell previously shared with PEOPLE that she loves and treats her dogs like kids, saying, “To me, they’re just kids I didn’t birth.”

We can only imagine the grief the family experienced in losing Barbara, but hopefully Whiskey’s arrival brings a bit of joy into their lives.

It’s great to see a celebrity actively choosing to adopt over shop, and it’s even neater to see one choose a dog with a disability, like Whiskey!
