Cats are, by nature, quite curious beings. And when they’re little, their curiosity definitely knows no bounds.
That is why kittens can sometimes find themselves in some rather precarious and downright dangerous situations if they’re not properly watched.
For one kitten in Cleveland, OH, it was a race against time after the tiny feline found itself stuck inside a drain pipe.
Fortunately, there was a group of rescuers on hand to save the little cat from a horrible death. The kitten had fallen a whole 8 feet down a drainpipe that was 4 inches in width. The kitten had survived the fall but had then become stuck when she started meowing for help.
That is when the community turned up to help in the form of Kym & Gary from Kamm’s Cat Guardians, Craig and Mike from the local news station WKYC, and Jim from the nearby Home Depot. They all came together to find a way to free the kitten from the drain pipe.
It was Jim who ended up coming up with a makeshift grabbing device in order to pluck the little kitten from inside the pipe.
In the video, he can be heard pleading with the little cat, saying, “Stay with me, please.”
Eventually, they were able to get the kitten out. However, once they had freed the kitten, she wasn’t breathing. That is when one of the rescuers started doing CPR as they got her to the vet. Luckily, it worked!
Kamm’s Cat Guardians posted to Facebook, “She wasn’t breathing when she came out of the water but they did CPR on her and rushed her to MedVet. Soon after arriving at MedVet, she came around and started crying which was music to everyone’s ears. They kept her until her body temperature was back up to normal and she was eating.”
The sweet little kitten was given the name Matilda, and she is now in a foster home.
