For 70 years corgis have been roaming the halls of Buckingham Palace – but that is about to change.
King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla will soon be moving into Buckingham Palace with their two rescued Jack Russell terriers, Beth and Bluebell.
The now senior dogs (age 10 and 11) will be the first rescue dogs to live in the palace, according to Metro.
The dogs were adopted from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in 2017. Both arrived at the rescue in bad shape but were rehabilitated and have been living like royalty for the past five years.
And the good life will continue.
King Charles, like his mother Queen Elizabeth II, has a special place in his heart for dogs. However, his heart belongs to the exuberant Jack Russell terriers. Prior to Beth and Bluebell, he was the proud dad to Jack Russells named Tigga and Pooh.
Jack Russells, while small, have big personalities and a lot of energy. The fearless and tenacious dogs need mental and physical exercise daily. They make great pets for active families and will curl up on your lap after a long day of playing. Sadly, many can be found in shelters.
Beth and Bluebell will most likely become just as popular as their parents and will hopefully encourage others to adopt. The RSPCA has many Jack Russells up for adoption but encourages everyone to do their research before adopting. Check out all the adoptable dogs here.
The Queen Consort and her faithful companions encourage people to adopt and still support Battersea who is tirelessly working to find homeless pets loving families. Beth and Bluebell proudly sport their “Wear Blue for Rescue” bandanas as part of the shelter’s campaign to promote adoption.
She loves her two rescue dogs and posted, “The nice thing about dogs is you can sit them down, you could have a nice long conversation, you could be cross, you could be sad and they just sit looking at you wagging their tail!”
We agree, rescue dogs are the best!
Earlier this year, the adorable dogs graced the cover of Country Life wearing their mom’s pearl necklaces. Beth and Bluebell will have free rein of their new home just like they do at Clarence House. However, according to Camilla the only area off limits is the bed.
