TikTok star Lauren Kettering received backlash after she posted a video of her puppy struggling with its head stuck in a jar. While he struggled, Kettering filmed him and laughed.
With over 6 million TikTok followers, Kettering is somewhat of a big name in the world of social media. She regularly posts dance content, day-in-the-life videos, and videos for entertainment.
In a recent video that she thought was hilarious, she showed how her puppy Rocky had gotten his head stuck in a jar. But as the since-deleted video showed, rather than help the poor pup, she sat back and laughed.
In the video, caption, “Watch until the end LMFAO,” you can see Rocky struggling with a jar stuck over his head. He’s heavily panting and the jar starts to fill with fog as he struggles to breathe.
Rocky then begins to anxiously run and bump into things, desperately trying to free his head. All the while, Kettering is sitting nearby recording the incident and dying of laughter at her poor dog’s situation.

Finally, Rocky runs towards Kettering and smashes into the camera (with the jar still on his head). That’s where the upsetting video ends and we can only hope that Kettering helped Rocky get the jar off his head at that point.
Naturally, she received a lot of backlash following the video. People accused her of animal abuse and of exploiting her dog for views.
Kettering claimed in an Instagram story that she didn’t put the jar on his head and never would and that he got the jar stuck by himself. However, it was clear in the video that she also made no move to help the scared dog out of the predicament.
“Poor puppy, it couldn’t breathe!” someone wrote.
“Lauren Kettering is disgusting and an animal abuser,” another said.
“so u see a dog panicking and decide to record and laugh?” someone else commented.
Others commented that they felt sick after watching the clip.
Kettering did go live on Instagram and apologize for the video and how upsetting it was. She explained that Rocky is just a puppy and has a short attention span, so he gets himself into predicaments on occasion. In the live, she said, “We love him, but he’s crazy.” Despite the apology, many people didn’t find it to be good enough. After all, just because he got himself into the situation doesn’t mean she shouldn’t help him out of it. Parents (and pet parents) are supposed to be there for their babies and look out for them, not allow them to stay in potentially dangerous and stressful situations.
In the apology video, Kettering did state that little Rocky is going to training classes to learn how to behave, so hopefully the dog trainers will give her guidance on being a proper dog owner as well. Adopting a dog and committing to care for it is not something to be taken lightly.
