I think that most of us who have ever rescued a cat would agree that they are truly the ones that rescue us. Perhaps we even have a bumper sticker that points to that fact.
Every once in a while, however, we hear about somebody who is truly rescued by their pet, and that is what happened to a woman named Sam Felstead.
According to the Metro, Felstead hails from Nottingham, and she is the proud human parent of a cat named Billy. The 42-year-old woman was sleeping one night when Billy decided to wake her up. She is forever thankful that he did.
When she woke up, Billy was busy pounding on her chest with his little paws. Suddenly, she realized that there was something wrong because she couldn’t move and had pain shooting down one of her sides.
She was able to call emergency services but an ambulance wasn’t able to get to her for at least two hours. That is when her mother, Karen, decided to rush her to the nearby hospital
Doctors were able to confirm that she did suffer from a heart attack while she was sleeping and that one of her arteries was blocked. She had to be in the hospital for three days, but now she is home with her beloved cat that saved her life.
According to People, she said: “Billy was on my chest and was meowing loudly in my ear hole. He was really meowing. He’s not a lap cat. He’s not a light cat either and he’s certainly not a cat that wants to be on your knee all the time. He likes to be alone.”
The doctors say that she was a lucky woman because she got to the hospital on time. She’s just happy that Billy was able to wake her up because it would’ve been another two hours before her alarm went off.
