Tigerlilly happily got adopted as a kitten at about four-months-old. Before her adoption, however, her feline family nearly went to a high euthanasia rate shelter, after her mom cat wandered into a random yard and gave birth. Wanting them to have the best chance at a good life, one of her finders reached out to The Cat House on the Kings to see if we could take in the entire family. We did take in Tigerlilly’s whole family and they went into one of our caring foster homes.
Her foster life was pretty routine, going on trips for vaccines, getting check-ups, etc. Completing everything that they had to go through in preparation for adoption, the time came for family separation. Two of Tigerlilly’s siblings became “Foster Failures”, an animal welfare term for a fosterer adopting their own foster kittens. The three remaining kittens, which included Tigerlilly, were moved from their foster home to our Adoption Center.
Being described as gentle, though a bit shy and skittish at times, she can be very cuddly once she has had a chance to get to know you. Tigerlilly likes to hide in any spot she can find. It was less than a month until she was adopted into a loving home, where she lived joyfully for a year and a half.
Life always has change in store, and Tigerlilly’s adopter had to break her own heart by returning her so that she could provide for the medical needs of her human parents. Once a Cat House cat, always a Cat House cat! We always take our cats and kittens back, they are a part of our extended family and they will always have us as a safety net!
Change is hard, even if done out of love. Tigerlilly was bewildered by being back at the Adoption Center again as an adult. She was happy to see our team members who took care of her before, but she was still looking for her home that she grew up in. Volunteers worked with her to help reassure her that it was through no fault of hers that she was here again.
Tigerlilly patiently did the adoption tour where she went to different locations in hopes of finding her next adopter. It did work and she was adopted again in August this year, and our hopes were realized for her. Change for anyone is hard. We take our time explaining adjustment periods to new homes, and new situations as a part of our adoption process. We support our adopters when they have questions or need help.
Even though Tigerlilly’s history was shared as a part of her adoption, she was only given 10 days to adjust to her new home, which is not enough for any being. Tigerlilly was returned for staying in her litter box, as that was her source of comfort in her new surroundings. She is back at the adoption center, and our hearts are hurting for her. We need help for this beautiful girl. She deserves patience, understanding, and unconditional love. Below is her profile. Please help the stream of life flow in the direction of her finding her forever family!
Beautiful little one-year-old Torbie treasure Tigerlilly was the happy member of a happy home until a family health crisis had her packing her bags to begin her wait for a second chance to be adored. This doll is the sweetest cuddle bug who absolutely loves her people and loves to snuggle up cozily in a welcoming lap for hugs, and naps, and petting. She has gotten along with kids, but would do best as an only pet without other cats or dogs.
She is gorgeously attired in her cloud-soft suit of velvety watercolor stripes, with the most expressive little face, sugar-dipped pouty smile, and lovely, long, glistening whiskers. It must be so perplexing to this love bug, made for sweetness and devotion, to find herself cast adrift from the affection she has known. Could your secure and loving arms give precious Tigerlilly back the comfort and love she has sadly lost? If you think so, find out how to adopt her here!
